Owner of record
The owner of record is the person or entity shown as owner on the county appraisal or assessor roll for a parcel. It is updated when a deed records and it carries a mailing address, and in some counties the last sale date and price.
Why it matters for a lead
Every development starts with a parcel and a name on the roll. When nothing has been filed yet, the owner of record is the only party there is, and in Charlotte the roll also carries the last sale price.
